“After a long journey of 13 hours in the car we had discovered a kitesurfing paradise: flat water and 30 to 35 knots every day. One day we even had wind speeds of 55 to 60 knots! It was really extreme to go out in those conditions alone and with offshore wind.”

When Colin settled in with the popcorn to watch Edgar Ulrich on Love Island, little did he know he’d have to watch till the bitter end of the 10-week series and would eventually see his hero take the trophy.
“Floris quickly wanted to get some drone shots done and thought he could manage to catch the drone with his hand in 40 knots, resulting in a severe cut to his finger. Kim, part of the crew, ran out of the car to provide assistance, not realizing that you shouldn’t open a car door without holding on tight when the wind is full on.”
The Naish Team Europe trip to Dakhla involved a lot of fun, training and learning opportunities for the latest recruit of young riders, but it wasn’t all plain sailing…
“Neither of us had any idea what we were going to be doing as they kept it a big secret until the day itself. The only thing I knew was that I had to get a plane to the island of Praia, the capital of Cape Verde on the island of Santiago, bring along my kite gear and meet them at the beach.”
When Roderick Pijls set off on a secret mission, it ended with the classic nostril-penetrating stench of a volcano. Luckily he also had fun kiting, so wasn’t left with a nasty taste in his mouth…
“Covid made it more acceptable to work remotely, and with Elon Musk’s Starlink company providing reliable satellite internet, we no longer had to worry about our internet connection dropping out if we anchored up behind a cliff. We could go almost anywhere and still work.”
