“Shooting with Noè is always a pleasure. His tricks look amazing, and he has a great sense of space – when I ask him to hit a specific line or position for the background, he always nails it. This season I pulled him out of the park for a bit so we could shoot some freestyle at one of my favorite spots. The wind didn’t last as long as we hoped, but we still got some shots I’m really happy with…”

“The wind was clean, the waves had that familiar Cape Town bite, and Carl was out there – flowing through each turn, perfectly in sync with the ocean. I stood on the sand with my camera, but my thoughts drifted elsewhere. This was the same beach where my brother, Graham, last kited. The same place he’d soared during King of the Air. The same ocean that, not long ago, took him – doing what he loved most…”
Photographer Craig Howes, brother of the late Graham Howes, captured some stunning shots of wave-riding fan Carl Ferreira and they have dedicated this piece to Graham.
“It was also an incredible experience growing up in a place where all the pro riders come to train for months every year. It definitely shaped who I am today. It was epic watching Aaron Hadlow, Alex Pastor and Liam Whaley come here every season. I’m 28 now, but I’m still super motivated to train and improve. This new generation brings new energy…”
