“You should be stoked about having a good session, not just because you achieved something that somebody else did. I can’t do a Front Blind Mobe even though I’ve been trying forever. I recognize what I can and can’t do. In the end, you just need to do what makes you happy. I improve if I’m enjoying myself and am happy in the water.”
Matteo Dorotini, current Freestyle Vice-World Champion, spills the beans on his unique riding style, influences, his GKA podium, recovery from injury, and his recent videos.
“We all know the classic Cape Town sunset session: 9m weather, fully lit, everyone charging. It’s epic, but it’s also busy. And if I’m honest, the older I get, the less I crave the chaos of peak hour. I’ve ridden enough crowded evenings to know that sometimes the real magic lies in the quieter moments. I find myself scoring so many early sessions with almost no one out.”
Cape Town is legendary for its high-octane sunset sessions with nuking winds, but Hannah Whiteley loves the calm peace and empty beaches that dawn sessions there can offer.
“We rallied the troops, grabbed gear, and raced to Anne’s Beach to find Mike already there, waist deep in the water, setting the rail, dragging it into position… Seeing Mike doing the work fully motivated reminded me why I love this discipline so much. It is all about the group effort. There are no shortcuts, no faking it. Just community, effort and shared passion.”
Ryan Goloversic and Kristen Cooper road trip down to a favorite spot, Florida Keys, and meet up with Chris Bobryk and local legend Mike Walsh to hit up some rails together.

Josué San “Baby Shark” Ferreira has just released two videos about his recent signing with Airush Kiteboarding and participation in Lords of Tram. We dive in to find out more.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve been on a board – first snowboarding, then kitesurfing – two sports, two elements: snow and water. For years I kept them separate, lived them separately. But at some point, a thought started following me everywhere and wouldn’t let go: what if both are kind of the same thing, and how do these cycles actually connect?”
Dominic Knoppe is a snowboard ninja but can kite too, and a recent trip to Iceland to film a video project showed him they’re both about experiencing H₂O in its different forms.
“I have been coming back to Brazil for many years, season after season, like a steady trade wind that never stops blowing. Every time I return to the northern states of Ceará and Piauí, I am reminded why this place is so vital to me. It is simple and rich at the same time. When I land in Brazil, something shifts inside me. It instantly feels like coming home…”
Roderick Pijls shares with us what it is that draws him to northern Brazil and chats through his latest mission there and the gear he packed to make the most of the trip.
“It’s been an amazing journey to be part of and it kind of just grew into the role that I have now: testing, riding, giving feedback, and a lot of talking! The early days were mainly learning how to feel the kite and how to describe it to other riders or the design team. It’s a lot of work to have an opinion you can trust. You are out on the water testing kites almost every day.”
