CORE XR5

CORE have released their latest big air machine, and with the help of former Woo Big Air Champion Joshua Emanuel it seems likely it’ll push all the right buttons for frequent flyers. Check out the video here, and get into the technical detail below:

CORE releases its latest generation of big air machines: the iconic XR5 and XR5 LW. Two kites that represent 10 years of iterative engineering excellence, a process that thoroughly tests each improvement without diminishing the XR’s characterdefining DNA. In those 10 years, the XR has become a global bestseller and benchmark for performance freeriding. As a member of CORE’s Universal+ Series, the XR5 is designed to excel in many disciplines. To apply the term “allrounder,” though, simply doesn’t do it justice. Rather, it’s an allrounder with superpowers in power freeriding, a catch-all that includes massive hangtime and hooked-in freestyle wizardry.

As part of CORE’s Universal+ Series lineup, the XR5 has more elbow room to focus on its key strengths. “With the CORE Free serving the wave-allrounder market and the indomitable GTS4 the unhooked sector,” CORE chief, Bernie Hiss added, “it allowed us to crank up the XR5’s big air capability.” CORE’s product development team brought in former WOO big air world record holder Josh Emanuel to help make the XR5 what it is today. The South African who regularly jumps in excess of 25m worked tirelessly to fine-tune the kite’s incredible lift and hangtime. Frank Ilfrich, Head of R&D added, “Josh was instrumental in getting every last bit out of the new XR5. Key technologies like ExoTex raises the XR5’s performance to a whole new level.”

The XR5’s character-defining DNA is energized by the airframe’s exclusive use of ExoTex Ultra Rigid Dacron and a narrower leading edge. “I feel super confident jumping with my ExoTex equipped kite,” comments Josh “The XR5’s linear steering and depower delivers a stable, controllable hangtime like I’ve never imagined.”

Although CORE’s engineers amped up the kite’s big air talents, the legendary XR comfort and character remain intact. The new kite continues to be an excellent choice for kiters of all levels. Beginners will appreciate the reliable sheet & go functionality, and experienced riders will love the XR’s huge range and extended hang times.

The XR’s character is supported by an outstanding cast of features like its range boosting Intelligent Arc, hangtime extending delta bow shape, and instant-response short bridle system. Adding finer details like robust front tube protection, CoreTex triple ripstop canopy, and adjustable “power steering” make this kite unbeatable.

For the very best kiting experience, CORE naturally recommends pairing the XR5 und XR5 LW with its Sensor bar system. The Sensor’s uncluttered simplicity, lightweight design, and unmatched safety systems like its 2-way twist quick release are just some of the features that bring out the XR5’s full potential. And the Sensor 2S’s details like its super narrow, glove-friendly grip, ceramic auto untwist and pinch-free center lines often make the difference in riding comfort.

The new XR5 and XR5 LW are offered in nine and three sizes respectively. Visit your local authorized CORE retailer soon and check out the latest innovation from CORE Kiteboarding.
