Ewan Jaspan – Stranded

ewan jaspan stranded - Ewan Jaspan - Stranded

This project took a lot of time and effort to film. We had planned to film in the last 10 days of the trip, but neither Alex or myself had tried to make a video part in Hood before, and didn't foresee how difficult it was going to be to get everything to line up for each shot. Most of the time we ended up coming in with no shots whatsoever as the wind would shut off, go ‘offshore', pick up to 35 knots, or even at times there was next to no water to ride in due to the dams holding it back.

We ended up pushing ourselves pretty hard to get some good clips, I remember trying for hours in terrible wind, just to find a decent gust to get a good HSFS9. I took so many crashes and finally stomped a clean on with 1% battery left on the camera, after being told, ‘this is the last shot of the battery'. That was a pretty good moment. All in all I'm really happy with how it turned out, Alex has a very unique way of filming and I think this footage has a very different feel to most other clips on the internet, and we hope you enjoy it!

Alexander James Lewis-Hughes – I’d come to Hood River with the goal of filming all my friends in exactly the way I wanted with no restraints or pre-meditated notion of what that had to be. I think it was after about the third day filming I realised that this film was just going to be a whitewash of Ewan's footage, the other footage of people didn’t really fit with his and I didn’t want to blow out all the angles just have Ewan's part right at the end. The last week of the trip Naish Kiteboarding hired me to shoot and do some media work for them with Ewan, it was this that really sealed the deal for me creating a stand alone part with Ewan. To me this Clip embodies Boardsport virtues to the fullest, this isn’t “wakestyle”, this isn’t “Parkstyle”, to me this is just great KiteBOARDING.
I’m pretty excited with how this turned out as I put a lot of time and effort into everything about this clip, from the gear to the angles. I hope you all enjoy it! Thanks to all the Hood River Homies and also Naish for the support!
