North unveils new Atmos Ultra 2026

Sub 2kg. North unveils new Atmos Ultra. Sorry what?! It’s their Lightest and Smoothest-Riding Twintip yet. Let’s take a look…

North Kiteboarding’s new Atmos Ultra, an ultra-light Freeride TwinTip, is flex-tuned for riders
who demand high-performance and comfort.

“We engineered the Atmos Ultra from scratch for athletes who want the lightest possible ride
without sacrificing control or comfort,” says North Chief Brand Officer, Mike Raper. “It’s the
lightest board we have ever produced, it blew my mind when I first rode it.”

High Performance Freeride

Weighing in under 2kg (just 1.8kg for the 138cm), the new Ultra features an advanced AirLite
PMI foam core, with Core Load frame and carbon layup for targeted strength and impact
resistance. Its double concave-to-deep-V centre spine and channels provide smoother
landings, superior grip, and precise edge control for tracking and carving.

Riders praise the Atmos Ultra for its “crazy light feeling” and freedom, with instant feedback to
every movement.

The construction uses multiple carbon grades and densities: 3DY High Modulus Carbon forms
a stiff beam for explosive pop and immediate response, with a lively carbon feel. To keep the
weight ultra-low, North also developed a new direct-to-carbon printing method without a top
sheet.

High-density foam heel reinforcement and a Paulownia frame prevent core crush and absorb
slamming impacts, but the Atmos Ultra prioritises light weight and performance over rugged
durability. As such, it’s not designed for the most punishing landings. Riders pushing Big Air and
high-impact landings should consider the Atmos or Atmos Pro for maximum robustness.
