The RPX was designed to help drive the next evolution in freestyle kiteboarding. While doing Alpha testing for the RPX, Slingshot asked themselves, “Why do freestyle kites need to lack versatility and performance?” And they concluded that they DON’T!
Whether you are Carlos Mario or aspiring to be, the RPX was designed to help riders of all abilities progress in their freestyle journey. The RPX is faster, lighter, and more technologically advanced than its predecessors. Born from the DNA of the Fuel and the RPM, the RPX is built upon the longstanding Slingshot invention of the “Open C Canopy.” What does this mean, you might ask? Instead of a traditional C kite shape where the kite almost makes a U in the sky and pulls like a truck, we flattened off the arc, which increases the wind range, depower ability as well as upwind reach and increased energetic response without sacrificing the much-needed slack for your handle pass needs. Along with this complete change in kite geometry, we redesigned the trailing edge to eliminate areas of turbulence, drag, and flutter, resulting in a smoother and more efficient ride. Combining the trailing edge re-design with the Open C Canopy unlocks progression with freestyle kiters of all levels to help push their limits and land more tricks.

We reduced canopy paneling from 108 individual panels to 20. This reduces the kite’s overall weight while also providing a more aerodynamic canopy profile.
The Fly-Line bridle is an innovation we used on the RPM for the past two years. During the development of the RPX, we wanted to push the possibilities of that bridle even further. By using more premium materials we were able to reduce the bridle line thickness by 25%. Riders will instantly feel less drag through the air due to this new streamlined bridle.
