KITING SET UP

FKB is located on the northeast coast of Qatar which catches the predominant northerly winds on a side onshore direction. The winds accelerate directly from the ocean with no landscapes or obstacles to cause turbulence; these are some of the smoothest winds you will experience. The thermal winds start around 8am and blow throughout the day until sunset. Average wind speeds are 18 to 24 knots and air temperatures range from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius during the windy season. Two rescue crafts are available at all times.

WHEN IS BEST TO GO?

The season at FKB starts in November and lasts all the way through to July. On average FKB has wind that blows above 15 knots four days a week. During the month of June we have ‘shamal’ (meaning north) season where strong, 25+ knots wind blows constantly for almost the entire month.

NO WIND?

The kite school at FKB boasts a range of fun activities to keep guests active on the rare days when the wind doesn’t blow. Activities include Flite board, Jet board, SUP, mountain biking and water bikes. In addition the resort has two padel courts, a well-equipped gym, beach football, beach volleyball and a yoga studio. The resort can also arrange various excursions for guests including dune bashing, whale shark watching and visits to the capital city of Doha to tour the museums and local markets.
