Camille: The Tic-Tac is a jump where you grab the board and twist it 360 in the air. I first tried this around 2020. I was in southern Spain watching strapless pro Keanu Merten. He was doing this trick and it looked so cool!
1. You need to get some speed up to generate a good pop on a strapless board as well as quite a bit of height to get enough time for the trick – two to three meters is good – then you have enough time to do it and to land it properly.
2. The position of the kite is very important – it should be at 12 o’clock more or less to remain very stable and balanced.
3. And then there is the movement of your wrist and hand – your arm is going up to twist the board to a curve.
4. Ideally you need at least 20 knots of wind before you can attempt this trick. With lighter wind it is still possible but then you’ll need more speed for the pop. If the wind is too strong, like more than 30 knots, then the board can fly away too easily.
5. My favorite kite size for this trick is probably a 10m in 20 knots or an 8m in 25 knots.
