There is a channel between two islands where the north wind in the summer months accelerates and gives us great conditions for Big Air. That has become my favorite discipline as it gives me the most amount of adrenaline. I also practice strapless kite foiling and wingfoiling which I love for lightwind conditions. I’ve been riding Eleveight kites since the beginning and have been representing them as an international rider for the last two years. Their gear is super reliable, the kites work super good and they are very durable. I love the big variety of kites they produce for all the disciplines. So I was very excited to be invited on my first ever kite trip with them recently on a catamaran in Sardinia.
It was my first ever time in Italy and in some ways it felt similar to Greece so I loved that. The places we visited were beautiful, in particular La Maddalena Island. The crew from the Kite2Sail boat made everyone feel right at home and gave us an excellent experience, checking the wind constantly and moving to find the best conditions. It was so easy to move from place to place or even a different country (Sardinia to Corsica), and getting away from the crowds to have as much space as we needed to film and do crazy stuff was awesome. When we did visit busier spots I have to mention how friendly all the locals were; they were very helpful giving us as much information as possible to get to know the spots.
Also on the trip was my very good friend and our videographer Cristiano Adorno, our photographer Kerli and her husband Kaimar who is a very good rider for Eleveight, both from Estonia. Eleveight’s Content Manager, Caroline Morris also joined us, as well as the crew of Kite2Sail of course. Cristiano was the only one I knew before the trip but we all clicked very quickly and had a very good rapport about all the shots we needed to get done. When we weren’t kiting we did some hiking on remote islands or tow foiling behind the dinghy of the catamaran which was a lot of fun. We also visited some amazing little towns for dinner. And Kaimar was fishing with a rod non-stop after every session, even with his wetsuit still on! Another highlight for me was sleeping outside on the boat, although that caused poor Cristiano’s phone to break on the very first night because of the humidity. He was without a phone for the whole trip but it did mean no distractions and he could fully focus on filming us!
